Mr. Haas is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and resident of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He has been an educator all his life, being a classroom teacher, certified school counselor, high school principal, school superintendent, and tribal college vice-president of academics, and former owner of an educational consulting firm. John and his wife Arlene reside in the country outside of Kyle, SD.
